They arrived at 9:30 and started digging right away. After the first truckload of dirt went away, they came back with stone and started filling in the bottom of the pool. I was busy working so didn’t check in to see what was going on as much as I wanted. Right around lunchtime, I peeked outside to find the backhoe teetering on the edge of the deep end! It was being balanced by the rock in the bucket and he proceeded to back himself out with the help of the arm. I thought for sure that thing was going over. It definitely pays to have experience doing the work. It’s also a good thing that Christina wasn’t home because she would have had a complete panic attack.
They removed 3 truckloads of dirt today for a total of 5 and are finished with the dirt removal. He said it’s complete clay and it got stuck in his truck when he went to dump it out at a farm in Englishtown. He used force of the track to jerk the clay out of the back. It will be nice to replace that nasty earth with a huge pool.
They think they will finish digging tomorrow.
